Please Send Your Student to School with a Water Bottle

We encourage students to stay hydrated during the school day and over the summer installed drinking fountains in the front office and on the field that have a water-bottle-filling feature.  Please send your child to OGMS with a water bottle every day, but before you go for a plastic water bottle, think about a reusable water bottle. The average family spends about $260/year on water bottles, instead you could spend about $20/year on a super stylish reusable bottle. Many plastic water bottles also contain a chemical called BPA which reusable water bottles do not have. Please encourage your child to drink water everyday, but consider the environment and buy a reusable bottles.

Note:  There are several reusable water bottles in our lost and found in the front office.  Please stop by and see if any of them are yours.  Also, please put your child's name, initials, or some identifying mark on these bottles so we can return them if they go missing.

Students Meet Hero they Read About in English

Some of Mrs. Goodson's 6th grade class met in Florence, AZ. with their families to watch the USS Indianapolis documentary.  Afterwards, survivor, Adolfo Celaya spoke to each student, signed autographs, and then later posed for a group picture with some of the kids. It was a really memorable day especially since they are reading the book Left For Dead by Pete Nelson and are researching about this event in history!

Students went to hear Adolfo Celaya speak about the USS Indianapolis .

CHURCH PARKING LOT CLOSED 11/20 AND 11/21:  The church parking lot by the crosswalk is being repaved Monday and Tuesday, 11/20 and 11/21.  For families who normally drop students off in this parking lot, please drop your student off in the OGMS main lot these two days.  Thank you.

A Message from the FFO

Dear Orange Grove Families,

It is hard to believe that November is here, and the month of giving is upon us.  The FFO (Family Facility Organization) has been busy this first quarter working hard to support our students.

We have already:

  • Started the year coordinating Pick-Up and Unpack so that 677 students could pick up their schedules, get their lockers, purchase and pick up PE uniforms, and turn in important paperwork

  • Hosted breakfasts before the FFO meetings to give parents an opportunity to meet with Mr. Rubin-Toles and hear from wonderful speakers on issues affecting our middle-school children

  • Distributed funds from your generous donations in the form of Grants

  • Reimbursed teachers for items they would have otherwise purchased with their own funds directly affecting the students in the classroom

  • Coordinated and ran a record-breaking Fall Book Fair

  • Purchased IXL Math licenses so students can participate in individualized math interventions

And we will:

  • Pay competition fees when our teams and clubs participate in events

  • Support the Panther Den

  • Provide the needed supplies for the Legacy Project and Campus Beautification,

  • Sponsor many activities associated with 8th Grade Promotion.

In order to continue these wonderful programs, we need your help!

Many of you contributed to Panther Pride at the start of the year.  Thank you!  Panther Pride is the direct giving campaign allowing the FFO to fund the many wonderful things listed above and so much more.  (We won’t ask you to sell magazines or wrapping paper.) Our goal is 100% participation from all families.

If you have not yet had the opportunity (or you simply forgot) please consider donating using one of the three methods listed below.  Any amount is welcome!

1.  To make your Panther Pride Contribution please go to the OGMS FFO Donation Website:
